Charter schools, including Cresthaven Academy, must not discriminate in admissions based on factors such as intellectual or athletic ability, academic achievement, special education needs, or English language proficiency. We are required to admit students on a space-available basis.

No, Cresthaven Academy is a free, open-enrollment public charter school. We do not charge tuition. As a charter school, we are required by law to serve all students, space permitting, and must adhere to non-discriminatory admission policies.

If your child receives an academic seat through the lottery, you will be contacted by a representative from Cresthaven Academy. You will need to complete the Registration Packet by the specified deadline to secure your child’s spot. Failure to submit the required documents on time will result in the rescinding of the seat.

• District Preference: To receive district preference, applicants must be residents of Plainfield, NJ. Students who live outside of Plainfield are also welcome to apply.
• Kindergarten Age Requirement: Kindergarten applicants must be 5 years old by October 1 of the year they plan to enter kindergarten. For the 2025-26 school year, children must be 5 years old by October 1, 2025.

Preference is given to siblings of enrolled students as part of our Sibling Policy (NJSA 36A-8C). If you are applying for a sibling of a current Cresthaven Academy student, be sure to specify that they are a sibling in the application to qualify for this preference.

Cresthaven Academy accepts applications up to three years before your child’s Kindergarten year. For example, if you're interested in applying for the 2025-26 Kindergarten class, you can submit an application now. The public lottery for the 2025-26 school year will be held in February 2025.

Yes! Families interested in applying for the current school year may submit an application at any time. All new applications will be automatically added to our waitlist. If a seat becomes available, students on the waitlist will be offered a spot on a first-come, first-served basis.
